Broad Spectrum CBD What Is It?

CBD is gaining popularity globally, which also means that it is now subject to extensive research. However, since CBD is not a medicine but rather a health supplement, thus all products differ in quality, strength, purity, and other parameters.

Theoretically, every CBD product sold in the market differs slightly from another. Even if two products have the same amount of CBD,  they differ due to their content of other organic compounds. After all, the cannabis plant has hundreds of phytocompounds.

Researchers are now taking a significant interest in CBD (cannabidiol) and other phytocompounds in the plant.

Our Comprehensive Guide to Broad Spectrum CBD

The cannabis plant contains numerous cannabinoids; among them, cannabidiol (CBD) is the most abundant. That is why it is commonly used as a health supplement. However, it does not mean that CBD supplements do not contain other phytocompounds.

It seems that other phytocompounds in the plant can also have health benefits. Studies have now identified almost 500 phytocompounds in the plant, and more than 100 of them are cannabinoids.

Researchers are extensively studying various cannabinoids in the plant, as many have similar or even more potent health effects than CBD. Not only that, some cannabinoids have an opposing action to others. Thus, exploring their properties is necessary to fully understand the plant chemistry and health benefits.

Not only that, but the cannabis plant also contains antioxidants, vitamins, flavonoids, and terpenes. Flavonoids are known as potent antioxidants and can suppress inflammation.

Terpenes are quite different; they are aromatic compounds that help protect plants. They are also antioxidants but also have numerous other health effects.

Terpenes & flavonoids, and other minor cannabinoids in hemp extract are responsible for the so-called “entourage effect.” Therefore, they can considerably boost the health benefits of CBD.

Understanding that hemp extract contains many phytocompounds helps understand the difference between various types of CBD extracts like a full-spectrum, broad spectrum, and isolate.

What Is CBD Oil & What Is It Used For?

CBD oil is a product made by adding CBD to the oil base. CBD is naturally soluble in lipids. Therefore, manufacturers often use pure CBD or high concentration CBD to make the products. They make CBD oil by using oils like olive, coconut, hemp, and other oils as a base and then add CBD extract to it. Thus, oil mainly acts as a base or carrier.

CBD oil is the most common CBD product, and people use it for various health conditions. Some of the common reasons to use are pain management, anxiety, insomnia, mood disorders, seizure, metabolic disorders, and other health issues.

What Is Broad Spectrum CBD & How Does It Differ?

Broad spectrum CBD is closest to how you may find CBD in nature. Thus, it is an extract that contains not only CBD but also minor cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, chlorophyll, and some other minor phytocompounds.

However, broad-spectrum CBD, also called CBD distillate, is THC-free. This is essential to know as in many nations, only THC-free products are allowed for human use. Moreover, THC-free means fewer regulatory hurdles and fewer chances of side effects.

Despite being THC-free, broad-spectrum CBD is quite potent. In addition, the presence of various phytocompounds like terpenes, flavonoids, and other minor cannabinoids ensures broader health benefits due to the entourage effect.

The entourage effect is necessary to understand, as it is much more than just a synergy. The synergy between the components means that if two compounds are combined, it results in a much more potent action.

However, the entourage effect means that if two different compounds are combined, it not only results in more powerful action but also in a completely new kind of health effects. Therefore, one may not experience those health effects when using those substances in isolation.

Therefore, broad-spectrum CBD is one of the potent forms of CBD yet relatively safe due to the lack of THC.

Benefits of Broad Spectrum vs. Other Forms

Although all CBD products share similar traits and health benefits, there are some differences between the various forms. Some, like broad-spectrum, are more potent, but it also has some downsides.

CBD Isolate

As the name suggests, it is an isolated form of CBD. It means that this is the purest form of CBD. Generally, CBD isolate powder is 99% pure CBD. It means it lacks other minor cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes and is THC-free. It does not have any other relevant phytocompounds.

This means that CBD isolate is almost tasteless. Therefore, it is perfect for producing a range of CBD products. In addition, it means that CBD manufacturers can add other phytocompounds of their choice and thus create unique products. Therefore, they might mix it with vegetable oils of their choice (like coconut, olive, or hemp), add different terpenes, essential oils, and more.

Since CBD isolate is a CBD in its purest form, it also means an excellent safety profile.

Considering the numerous benefits of CBD isolate and the freedom of creativity it provides to CBD product makers, it is commonly used to make CBD products. In such cases, CBD product manufacturers know what is happening inside their products.

There is only one downside to using CBD isolate. In its pure form, it lacks the entourage effect and may have a milder action than broad spectrum CBD. However, this downside can be overcome by cleverly mixing terpenes and other natural compounds into the finished CBD products.

Moreover, CBD isolate is also perfect for creating a different kinds of products like gummies, cosmetics, CBD-infused foods, drinks, and more.

Full-Spectrum CBD

As the name suggests, it is more than just a CBD. The broad spectrum retains other minor cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other phytocompounds. Thus, it can exert an entourage effect, making it the more potent variant of CBD.

Most importantly, the full-spectrum CBD also contains THC in small amounts. For example, in the US, the permitted amount of THC in CBD products is 0.03%, whereas, in the EU, it is 0.02%.

This is quite a minute amount of THC and cannot cause euphoria. Nonetheless, even in such minute amounts, it can alter the properties of CBD products. It may potentiate specific health effects of CBD products.

Although full-spectrum CBD is the most potent form of CBD, this also poses specific challenges like it may have more significant side effects. In addition, it has an earthly flavour, and thus it may not be suitable for producing some products.

Additionally, getting regulatory approval or marketing authorization from regulatory agencies may be challenging, as THC poses specific health threats. Moreover, there are certain risks of using full-spectrum CBD. For example, if the labs find that THC levels are minutely more than the allowed limits, this may result in rejection of the product by labs and even massive financial penalties.

Broad Spectrum CBD

The broad spectrum is the best of both worlds. It is something in between the CBD isolate and the full-spectrum CBD. It retains small amounts of minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, but unlike full-spectrum, it is THC-free.

This means that it is generally more potent than CBD isolate with broader health benefits. But it is still good for producing different kinds of products due to its milder aroma. Moreover, quite like CBD isolate, it has a good safety profile as it is THC-free.

THC-free also means that there are no severe regulatory issues in using broad spectrum CBD.

To sum up, CBD comes in various forms, with CBD isolate fit for most purposes, whereas broad-spectrum CBD is fit for creating more potent products. However, despite its strengths, one must be careful with full-spectrum CBD as it contains THC.

If you want to start a CBD business, there are multiple ways of doing it. First, you can either buy CBD isolate or distillate from us. Moreover, we also offer water-soluble CBD isolate and distillate. Else you can choose from our range of private label CBD products.

CBD in Functional Foods: A Guide

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the more than 100 cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. However, CBD is most popular, as it is most abundant in the plant, readily extractable, and is well studied by science. In addition, CBD has completely changed the way people perceive the cannabis plant. Now, they associate this plant with health benefits rather than substance abuse.

What is incredible about cannabinoids is that they have many different functions. Sometimes, various cannabinoids work in synergy with each other, and other times in an opposite way. Since CBD has so many health effects, it is surely a time to include it in a regular diet to recognize it as one of the most potent functional foods.

There are other reasons why It is necessary to start exploring CBD as a functional food. These days, 70% of all clinical conditions are non-infectious chronic ailments. One of the problems with chronic disorders is that they are difficult to treat with medications and cause significant pain and disability.

Just take an example of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, dementia, joint pains, lower back pain, and more. Most of these conditions are lifelong, or they tend to reoccur.

Studies show that most chronic ailments are lifestyle disorders. It means that they are prevented and better managed through lifestyle interventions rather than through the use of pharmacological drugs.

It means that there is an urgent need to understand the role of CBD in managing various chronic disorders. However, using health supplements daily is a challenge. On the other hand, consuming CBD as a part of the diet may better manage these conditions.

functional foods and CBD

What Are Functional Foods?

These are food items with health benefits extending beyond their nutritional value. It means that they not only provide energy and vital nutrients to the body but also help prevent and even manage health conditions.

Thus, for example, many spices like turmeric are not only used to color the food, improve its aroma, or for nutritional value, but it also has many other health benefits.

Similarly, CBD is excellent functional food. It mainly means creating products high in nutritional value and having the health benefits of CBD. It could be CBD-infused foods or even food products solely made of various parts of the cannabis plant.

Thus, take the example of hemp seed meal or hemp seed cake. It is what is left of the hemp seed after extracting its oil. However, this hemp cake is rich in vegan proteins, vitamins, and minerals, have small amounts of essential fatty acids and can be readily sourced. If we add CBD to this, we can create a food product that is nutritious and has all the health benefits of CBD.

Another example could be hemp seed oil, healthy oil that is quite rich in omega-3 fatty acids. However, hemp seed oil is naturally CBD-free. But, adding CBD to hemp seed oil would create excellent functional food.

Unlike healthy supplements, functional food is primarily for regular consumption as a part of a regular diet. Thus, for example, one can create smoothies using CBD-infused hemp seed meal or CBD-infused hemp seed oil as a salad dressing.

What Are Some Key Functional Food Benefits?

Functional foods provide many unique benefits over other products like food supplements or natural remedies. Perhaps the biggest advantage is a better nutritional profile and palatability. When consuming functional foods, one does not feel like taking some medicine. Thus, functional foods are easier to add to the daily regime. These foods are consumed just like any other food, and yet they have many health benefits.

When it comes to health benefits, the possibilities are limitless. It is because functional foods are not necessarily made using a single plant extract. Thus, one can add CBD to different healthy foods to create functional foods.

As already mentioned, one can use hemp seed meal with added CBD to make smoothies. One can use it before and after the workout. However, unlike conventional high protein supplements, it would also have the benefits of CBD, which may mean low anxiety, better focus, faster recovery, and the lesser problem of delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). It may also mean improved metabolic health and more.

Similarly, using hemp seed oil as a part of the diet is good, as it is quite nutritious. But hemp seed oil with CBD would be even more wonderful.

As already said that one can create even better products by combining different foods. Thus, just think about having CBD-infused multi-fruit juice daily in the morning. This would have all the benefits of multi-fruit juice, along with the health benefits of CBD. Furthermore, one can even fortify this juice with vitamins and minerals to create a highly beneficial and unique offering. Thus, as one can see possibilities here are endless.

CBD and funcional foods

What Are the Stages of CBD-Infused Functional Food Prep?

As the CBD market is quite saturated,  one of the ways of getting into the CBD business is starting with functional foods. Moreover, here the possibilities are almost endless. For example, one may create CBD infused food range focusing on physically active individuals or foods focused on managing certain ailments.

Creating CBD-infused functional food is pretty straightforward. Perhaps the simplest way of starting is just to come up with an idea of some food supplement range and then merely add some CBD to them. These could be food supplements for sports people like vegan protein powders, pre or post-workout shakes, meal replacement plans, and more. Or one can focus on specific disorders like foods for joint health, diabetes, brain health, and more.

Once you have come up with an idea, one of the most important things you need to know is whether your food item is oil-based or water-based. It is vital to know as CBD is naturally fat soluble but is poorly soluble in the water.

Thus, when it comes to adding CBD to oil-based products, it is pretty simple. One can buy CBD wholesale, like CBD isolate or THC-free broad spectrum CBD distillate, and then add these to foods.

However, if you want to create a CBD-infused energy drink, then you would need to use water soluble CBD isolate or water soluble distillate. Unfortunately, there are very few companies in the market like essentiapura that produce water soluble CBD. It is essentially a nano-emulsified liquid concentrate that is ready to add to just any water-based food and has excellent bioavailability.

Additionally, when creating products, one should also think about adding other beneficial ingredients to differentiate the product from the market. For example, a CBD-infused sports drink with curcumin and vitamin Bs reduces post-workout inflammation.

What Is the State of the Functional Food Market in 2022?

It is relatively difficult to say as there is no clear data. Moreover, definitions of functional foods differ globally. However, what we know is that the wellness market is almost $4 trillion, which is massive. Additionally, we know that CBD has been one of the major growth drivers of the functional food market for the last few years.

There are many reasons for the lack of accurate data. Just take an example of fortified juices. Some would say that it is just a food item, another would call it a health supplement, and yet others may classify it as a functional food. Generally, criteria differentiating between foods, functional foods, and healthy supplements vary significantly between the various nations, creating significant challenges.

Nevertheless, it is evident that the CBD market is growing in North America and Europe. Another encouraging point is that the market will continue to grow for a decade or more. The demand for CBD products is continually growing, and the market is still struggling to meet consumer demands. Thus, though the CBD oil market may be much saturated, the market of CBD-infused foods is still nascent and offers many business opportunities.

Top Ways to Boost Functional Food Intake?

If you have decided to get into the functional food segment, there is still lots to think about before launching any food product. One of the ways to start is to identify the segment that one wants to enter. For example, some may come up with a vegan range of products, others foods for brain health, and more.

If you want to know more about ways of boosting functional food intake, it is not very difficult. Here the secret is pretty simple, instead of choosing usual foods, better choose food products with some added health benefits.

Just take an example of dietary oil intake. Everyone consumes oil in one way or another. However, instead of going for regular vegetable oil, one may opt for organic, cold pressed, omega-3 fatty acids rich vegetable oil. If one can find such vegetable oil with CBD, that would be even great.

Similarly, instead of a regular glass of juice in the morning, why not consider multi-fruit juice fortified with vitamins or other beneficial herbs. Thus, such a juice would be not only nutritious but also beneficial to health.

How To Make Water Soluble CBD?

CBD oil is the most commonly used form of cannabidiol. Although it has moderate bioavailability of 13-19%, that is not enough. Moreover, when people take CBD oil, lots of it goes through first-pass metabolism (metabolism in the liver immediately after absorption), and a considerable amount of it is destroyed.

These issues related to CBD bioavailability forced researchers to look for alternative ways of delivering CBD to the body. Of course, CBD inhaling is an excellent option, however it is not for everyone. Thus, researchers came up with another technology that is creating water soluble CBD.

What Is Water Soluble CBD

A substance can be described as water soluble essentially when it has the capability to dissolve in water. CBD does not have this ability naturally so we have to process it in order to be able to disperse it in water and other liquids. The finished product that can easily be added to food or drink, which provides endless opportunities for different types of products. But this process can be quite complicated.

Challenges in creating water soluble CBD

It is not as straightforward as it may sound. One cannot just directly dissolve CBD isolate or CBD distillate into the water. It is because the CBD molecule is lipophilic. That is, it loves oils but repels water. So, only an inconsiderable amount of CBD powder would dissolve in the water.

Nevertheless, researchers have long known various natural products in which oil molecules are suspended in water as if they are mixed with it. It is called emulsion. Some of the good examples could be milk and egg yolk. There are known ways of emulsification, and the same can be applied for producing water soluble CBD.

The word liposome derives from two Greek words: lipo (“fat”) and soma (“body”)

How water soluble CBD is made

Water soluble CBD isolate or distillate still require the use of oil. It is because CBD simply does not mix well with water. So, how to make water soluble CBD? The starting point in creating water soluble CBD is mixing it with oil. Then comes the next step, which is breaking these CBD oil particles into tiny (nano) droplets so that they can remain suspended in the water. Thus, the resulting solution is a nano-emulsion.

There are many ways of breaking CBD oil into smaller particles. But the most common strategy used is deploying either high shear mixers or high energy ultrasonic sound waves. There are special machines in which this whole process is carried out. This equipment can break CBD oil into nanoparticles, small enough to get homogeneously suspended in the water, and remain stable for quite a long time.

Usually, ultrasound homogenizers (using ultrasonic waves) are regarded better than high shear mixers (moving oil and water mixture at high velocity). However, most producers use a combination of these methods. One can start with high shear mixers and then use ultrasound homogenizers to produce even better and more stable nano-emulsion

These nanoparticles are so small that they can readily penetrate through various membranes, including intestinal membranes. These particles can also escape the first-pass metabolism in the liver in large amounts. All this means far greater bioavailability of CBD.

Liposomal CBD vs water soluble nano-emulsion

There are other well-known ways of boosting the bioavailability of various natural extracts. One such method is using liposomes as carriers. Liposomes form a bubble-like structure over natural extracts like CBD resulting in better absorption.

Although there is no doubt that liposomal CBD has better bioavailability than CBD oil, it is still inferior to water soluble nano-emulsion. It is because the size of CBD droplets in nano-emulsion is extremely small. In contrast, liposomes are 10 to a hundred times larger than nano-emulsion droplets. Thus, despite the benefits of improved bioavailability, liposomal technology is much inferior to water soluble nano-emulsion.

Both offer bigger efficiency. but nano, being smaller, is also absorbed better!

Kinds of water soluble CBD

When choosing water soluble CBD, one does not have to compromise on the range of options. Like non-water soluble options, water soluble CBD is available as isolate, distillate, and even full-spectrum.

Water soluble CBD isolate

Much like CBD isolate powder or CBD crystals, it contains CBD without other cannabinoids and is THC-free. It is loved by many due to its perceived better safety profile and a wide number of applications. It may be a better fit for certain kinds of products like edibles, CBD for older adults and athletes, and so on. Nonetheless, it is less potent due to the lack of entourage effect.

Water soluble CBD distillate

This is perhaps an optimal solution for most needs. It contains CBD, other cannabinoids, and terpenes but is free from THC. Thus, it is generally regarded as quite potent and safe for special population groups who do not want any THC like athletes.

Full-spectrum water soluble CBD

As the name suggests, this is CBD along with other cannabinoids, terpenes, and even traces of THC. THC is only in the permissible levels, which is usually below 0.2%. Therefore, it is a very small amount of THC to cause any mind-altering effect. However, full-spectrum water soluble CBD wholesale might be better for producing products for severe conditions like anxiety, sleep disorders, and so on.

Various pharmaceutical drugs, mRNA, and DNA vaccines are using liposomal delivery methods.

6 Water Soluble CBD Benefits

There are numerous benefits of water soluble CBD:

  1. The main and most noticeable benefit is that water soluble CBD provides a very high absorption rate. This means that a certain dose will show more powerful effects than with other forms. Many of its other benefits correlate with this greatly.
  2. It is a cost-effective way of enhancing the bioavailability of CBD, which helps keep the cost of CBD products low and yet improve its effectiveness.
  3. Water soluble CBD is proven in human studies to have reliably better pharmacokinetics. In one of the human studies, water soluble CBD was 4.5 times more bioavailable than CBD oil. Thus, it is considerably better than other technologies like liposomal or the addition of other herbal extracts.
  4. Convenience for both users and producers. For users, water-soluble products are easier to use and carry. For producers, it also means ease of adding CBD to various formulations.
  5. It starts acting faster, and thus, those who use water soluble CBD always prefer it.
  6. Another benefit of water soluble CBD is that it can be more easily measured and dosed due to the precise nature of the process it goes through.

It is vital to understand that not all benefits of it are visible. For example, water soluble CBD achieves a much higher concentration in various organs, especially when used for prolonged intervals. It means that people may achieve health effects that they could not get from other types of CBD products.

What is Water Soluble CBD?

When it comes to CBD products, things are evolving fast. It isn’t easy to believe that CBD primarily became legal just a couple of decades back. However, since then, lots have changed. Consumers are now more quality conscious and informed.

The CBD market has long been dominated by CBD oil, but things are changing fast. CBD oil has its own pros and cons. It is vital to understand that the human body is mainly composed of water. Thus, it handles water-soluble compounds better.

It is not rare for CBD manufacturers to see their consumers complaining about their products. It is because some products fail to deliver despite the best of intentions of CBD producers. Researchers think that one of the reasons could be that many oil-based products do not get absorbed much into the body. So, could a solution be in the form of water soluble CBD?

Exploring Water Soluble CBD

Water soluble CBD empowers manufacturers to create a whole range of new kinds of products. More effective products, and yet easy to produce.

What is Water Soluble CBD?

To begin with, one should not confuse CBD with CBD oil. It is true that CBD is highly lipophilic and mixes much better in oil than in water. However, it does not mean that CBD does not dissolve at all in the water. Nevertheless, technological challenges remain, as low water solubility must be overcome.

Various researchers are investigating different approaches. Some are even exploring ways of tweaking the chemical structure of cannabinoids to make them more water soluble. But perhaps the more straightforward approach is to create CBD emulsion.

It is wrong to suggest that water and oil do not mix, as they do mix well even in nature. Just take an example of milk, a classic example of an emulsion. It is a water-based food product with suspended fat particles.

Milk – A prime example of fat nanoemulsion

When creating water soluble CBD, manufacturers use a similar approach to creating CBD emulsions. Thus, it is a nano-particle of CBD oil dispersed in water, creating an emulsion. This emulsion could be made from isolate (containing primarily CBD only), resulting in water soluble CBD isolate. Or it could be broad-spectrum (thus containing other cannabinoids, terpenes, for added benefits), resulting in water-soluble CBD distillate.

Water soluble CBD – a better delivery system, higher bioavailability

The whole purpose of creating this type of CBD is to enhance CBD’s delivery. It means increasing its bioavailability considerably and thus improving the safety and efficacy of the product.

Higher bioavailability means that CBD would be effective even at lower dosages, which considerably improves its safety. In addition, a higher concentration of CBD in the body would mean better relief from various health issues.

Although there are very few studies on the subject, all studies confirm that water soluble CBD is multiple times better.

In one of the pharmacokinetics studies published in the Phytotherapy Research journal, researchers found that water soluble CBD had 4.5 times higher bioavailability than lipid-soluble CBD (CBD oil) on oral intake. So, the difference is enormous.

Benefits of Water Soluble CBD

There are several reasons for consumers to prefer water soluble CBD:

  • Higher bioavailability means greater effectiveness even at lower dosages.
  • Higher concentration in the blood means that water soluble CBD may help in conditions where CBD oil failed to help.
  • Easier to add to food products, but more importantly to various drinks and beverages.
  • Easier to carry than CBD oil

Above are the benefits from a consumer point of view. Water soluble CBD also offers numerous advantages for CBD manufacturers:

  • Can be added to various beverages without altering their formula or recipe.
  • Ability to produce a greater variety of CBD products.
  • Higher and predictable health benefits for consumers means greater client loyalty and higher brand value.

Types of Products made with Water Soluble CBD

One can use water soluble CBD isolate or broad-spectrum distillate to produce just almost any kind of CBD product. Quite like CBD oil, it can be added to various food items, gummies, and so on. However, the most significant benefit of water soluble CBD is that it can be readily added to a wide variety of drinks or beverages like cold brew coffee, flavoured drinks, cold tea, etc.

Since it is almost tasteless and readily mixes into water based beverages, in most cases, manufacturers won’t require to make changes to their pre-existing recipes. All they need to do is simply add it to any of the well known beverages.

The Difference between Water Soluble CBD and CBD Oil

The main difference between the two is in faster, greater, and reliable absorption when taken orally. It ultimately translates into quicker relief, higher efficacy, and consistent health benefit.

This is not to suggest that CBD oil is not as good. Nevertheless, water soluble formulations are better in most ways.

The world of CBD beverages is now possible with water soluble CBD.

Manufacturing products with water soluble CBD

There are some differences from a manufacturing point of view. It is vital to understand that water soluble CBD isolate and distillate are in liquid forms, unlike CBD isolate or broad-spectrum distillate powders. Thus, they might be better suited for adding to beverages, other water-based products. However, water soluble CBD isolate or distillate may not be suitable for adding to certain topical products.

One of the common questions manufacturers ask is why not use cheaper CBD isolate powders to create beverages? Or Is CBD isolate water soluble? Unfortunately, the usual CBD isolate powder is only marginally soluble in the water. Thus, it will not achieve a high concentration. Therefore, adding too much of it to beverages will result in sedimentation. On the other hand, water soluble CBD isolate or distillate (both are in liquid or emulsion form) would readily mix, providing the correct dose to the users.

What is CBD Distillate? An Overview

With terms like CBD distillate, full-spectrum oil, and isolate, navigating the ever-growing market can easily become overwhelming. Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is one of the many derivatives of the hemp plant. It has become widely popular because of the benefits it offers without the psychoactive effect.

What is CBD

CBD, which is also known by its proper scientific name of cannabidiol, is a substance found in cannabis and hemp plants. It is most commonly used as a dietary supplement. This cannabinoid has been found to have potential benefits for the health of mammalian (and human) bodies.

It goes into effect by interacting with the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is a powerful regulatory body that is responsible for overseeing a vast variety of bodily functions, including sleep patterns, mood, inflammation, and hormonal balances.

Since CBD distillate mimics the functions of endogenous cannabinoids produced within our bodies, it may help rebalance many of these systems within the body. Cannabidiol has also been shown to help the digestive system to help clear out toxins, help induce relaxation, and alleviate stress.

Although CBD products have many benefits, they are not regulated by the FDA and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases.

For more information about CBD benefits, check out this very informative piece from the Outwittrade team, for recent science-backed facts about Cannabidiol.

What is CBD distillate

CBD distillate is a highly concentrated extract. It is derived from hemp and cannabis plants, although the latter is not very common. CBD distillate contains usually upwards of 90% cannabidiol with the balance including minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and other plant oils and extracts including THC (usually less than 0.3%). It is considered one of the purest and cleanest extracts available on the market, second in purity only to CBD isolate.

The scientific definition of distillation is that it is the act of purifying a substance usually through a collection of heating and cooling methods. The end result of a distillation process is known as a distillate.

To distillate CBD (cannabinoids) is quite a bit different than the older ways of producing cannabidiol concentrates such as shatter, wax, crumble, and budder.

In the process is used heat, steam, and vacuum pressure to separate compounds in a solution from each other and therefore to obtain distillate cannabinoids. By influencing each compound’s boiling points, extractors can collect them individually. Distillates can be refined as much as desired by running the distillation procedure multiple times. In the case of CBD distillate, the end product is a golden yellow color with a consistency that is very similar to honey.

You can imagine that CBD distillate is not the only product you can make from hemp. You can make CBG, CBC, CBN, THCV distillate, etc. or any type of cannabinoids from hemp or cannabis, in a very concentrated clean pure form.

This process ensures that CBD distillate can be processed and sold in states where THC-infused products are not yet legal.

Is it a psychoactive substance

CBD oil products have a calming effect

CBD distillate is a mood-altering compound that has significant therapeutic benefits, like relieving pain and nausea, reducing inflammation, and treating some seizure disorders. If you’re consuming CBD distillate, you will tap into the therapeutic benefits, but because the distillate product doesn’t produce intoxicating effects, and it will NOT get you high.

Humans and other mammals have an internal network of chemicals and receptors in the central and peripheral nervous systems called the endocannabinoid system. These receptors, named CB1 and CB2, bind with molecules called ligands (in this case endogenous cannabinoids like anandamide) to control the release of neurotransmitters like glutamate and dopamine. The endocannabinoid receptors, ligands, and certain enzymes work in concert to affect a variety of processes in the body, including thought, memory, mood, pain management, and appetite.

Can you vape CBD distillate?

The supplement market is full of CBD products claiming to contain a specific level of CBD, full or broad-spectrum distillate CBD and other cannabinoids, and less than 0.3% THC. CBD distillate products can be found in different forms on the market, but the most popular are CBD oil, gummies, bath bombs, capsules, tinctures, chocolates, and others. Vaping, it happens to be one of the best ways to take CBD. Read our article on vaping CBD for more information.

For many users, vaping offers advantages when compared to ingesting oil products. When heated and inhaled, these compounds are quickly and effectively absorbed into the body. While the effectiveness and quick time to onset is extremely favourable, the current state of the vape industry can be off-putting for health-conscious users.
